Why this product
Why the Yakima CBX 18?
The CBX 18 is Yakima's flagship at 18 cu ft with a SkyRise fabric top panel. Here's the thing: at 86.5 lbs, it's significantly heavier than competing 18 cu ft boxes — the Thule Motion 3 XL does the same volume at 51 lbs. Dual opening is nice, but that weight penalty is hard to justify. The downside? That extra weight eats into your roof load capacity and makes solo installation a two-person job.
