R6 progressive spring bars with sway control — 1,000 lb tongue weight

Last reviewed: April 2026

rv_levelingground_placed

Weight distribution hitch with ReCurve R6 spring bars rated at 1,000 lbs tongue weight. The R6 uses a round bar design that provides progressive resistance — stiffer as load increases. Built-in sway control reduces fishtailing. At 65 lbs, it is built for long-term heavy use.

Por qué este producto

¿Por qué el EAZ LIFT ReCurve R6 1000 lb WDH?

The R6 rounds bars provide progressive resistance — the harder the load pushes, the stiffer they get. At 1,000 lbs tongue weight with sway control, this covers the same trailers as the R3 but with a different feel on the road. Some towers prefer round bars, some prefer trunnion. The R6 is the round bar option at this weight class.

“Best Weight-Distribution Hitch I've Owned: I've owned a bunch of different weight-distribution hitches over the years. The EAZ-Lift ReCurve R6 is the best I've owned by far. It has the adjustments that are needed to get the tow vehicle and trailer to ride level.”

Preguntas frecuentes

If the loaded tongue weight is more than about 10 percent of your tow vehicle's weight, or if the manufacturer's towing section says to use one, then yes. The symptom is the tow vehicle squatting at the back and going light at the front, which takes steering and braking authority away from the axle that does both. A weight-distribution hitch does not reduce tongue weight. It uses spring bars to push some of it back onto the tow vehicle's front axle and the trailer's axles.

1,000 lbs maximum at the head. Size by your actual loaded tongue weight, weighed with the trailer packed the way it travels. A spring bar run well under its class does not distribute much load, and one run over it is the one that bends, so landing near the middle of the range is the goal.

Adaptive — disengages past 7 degrees in a tight turn. The distinction is worth knowing before you shop. Friction sway control resists the trailer starting to move; adaptive systems let go during tight turns so the hitch is not fighting you in a fuel station, then re-engage on the straight. Neither one cures a badly loaded trailer. Sway usually starts with too little weight on the tongue, and no hitch fixes that.

It uses a 2-5/16" ball and installs on top-mount or bottom-mount coupler-style trailers. Check three things: that your coupler takes that ball size, that your receiver is the right class, and that the shank gives you enough rise or drop to get the trailer sitting level. A trailer that noses down or tail-drops will not distribute properly no matter how the bars are set. The included ball is rated to 15,000 lbs, which is a rating on the ball, not a licence to tow that much.

Set aside an afternoon for the first time, not five minutes. Getting this right means measuring the tow vehicle's front and rear fender heights unhitched, hitching, then adjusting spring-bar tension and the head angle until the front fender returns to roughly where it started. It is iterative. Once you have found your settings and marked them, hitching on a trip is a couple of minutes.

Yes — on ice, packed snow or a wet, slick surface. Friction sway control resists the trailer's attempt to straighten itself, and on a low-grip surface that can make a slide worse rather than better. Check your manual for this model's procedure. Also release the bars before backing at a sharp angle, or you load them sideways in a way they were not designed for.
