Roof Mounting
flush rails with factory rails
The 3rd-generation Volkswagen Tiguan (2022+) features flush-mounted roof rails on SE and above trims. These are integrated into the roofline — no visible gap between rail and roof panel. You need flush-rail-specific towers: Thule Evo Flush Rail (7106) or Yakima StreamLine system. Rail-to-rail span: approximately 41 inches. Front-to-rear crossbar spread: up to 32 inches. The Tiguan occupies the compact SUV segment — roof real estate is correspondingly limited. The Thule Motion 3 M or L fits well; the XL overhangs rear clearance limits. The S (base) trim ships without any roof rails. For this configuration, Thule Evo Clamp (710501) with Fit Kit 145257 (VW Tiguan-specific) provides doorframe clamping. The Tiguan's door frame profile is slightly narrower than most competitors — ensure clamp feet are centered on the frame for maximum contact. [ADD PERSONAL EXPERIENCE] The 2022+ Tiguan's flush rail design changed from the 2018-2021 model (which used raised rails). No mounting hardware is cross-compatible between generations.
