Roof Mounting
bare roof
The 3rd-generation Honda HR-V (2023+) has a bare roof with no factory rails on most trims. This compact crossover uses doorframe clamp systems for crossbar mounting: Thule Evo Clamp (710501) with HR-V-specific Fit Kit, or Yakima BaseLine towers. The HR-V's compact roofline limits crossbar spread to approximately 28-30 inches β suitable for compact cargo boxes (Thule Force XT S/M) and lightweight accessories, but not ideal for large cargo platforms. Dynamic roof load capacity is approximately 150 lbs (including rack weight). The HR-V's unibody construction and smaller roof panel area mean load distribution is more concentrated than on larger vehicles β stay conservative with weight. The HR-V is one of the smallest vehicles in our database with crossbar compatibility. Its primary advantage is lower loading height β the roof sits at approximately 62 inches from the ground, making overhead loading significantly easier than SUVs or trucks.
