Roof Mounting
raised rails with factory rails
The 5th-generation GMC Yukon (T1 platform, 2021+) is mechanically identical to the Chevrolet Tahoe from the frame up β same body-on-frame architecture, same roof structure, same factory-installed raised roof rails on SLE and above trims. The rails run the full length of the roof, providing approximately 60 inches of usable crossbar spread. Thule Evo Raised Rail (710401) with WingBar Evo bars, or Yakima TimberLine towers with JetStream crossbars, mount directly to the raised rails without a vehicle-specific fit kit. Rail-to-rail span measures approximately 49 inches β wide enough for the Thule Motion 3 XXL without overhang concerns. The Denali and Denali Ultimate trims include body-colored roof rails (vs. black on SLE/SLT/AT4). The mounting geometry is identical regardless of rail color β the color is a cosmetic powder coat applied to the same aluminum extrusion. Rails are rated for 150 lbs dynamic load (including crossbar weight). [ADD PERSONAL EXPERIENCE] The AT4 trim includes a slightly taller ride height (+2 inches) via a factory lift. This does not affect rail geometry but changes your loading height β plan for 78+ inches to rail top.
