The 2024+ GMC Acadia (2nd generation redesign) switched to flush-mounted roof rails on SLT and above trims — a departure from the previous generation's raised rails. This is a critical distinction: owners upgrading from the 2017-2023 Acadia cannot reuse their existing crossbar hardware. Flush-rail mounting requires Thule Evo Flush Rail (7106) or Yakima StreamLine towers. Rail-to-rail span: approximately 44 inches. Front-to-rear crossbar spread: up to 38 inches. The redesigned Acadia grew in every dimension, providing significantly more roof real estate than its predecessor. The SLE (base) trim has no roof rails. The AT4 trim includes black-finished flush rails with identical mounting geometry to the chrome-finished Denali rails — hardware is interchangeable between trims. The 2024+ Acadia does not include a factory hitch on all trims. The AT4 and Denali typically include the trailering package with a factory 2-inch receiver rated at 4,000 lbs towing / 400 lbs tongue weight. SLE and SLT trims require the CURT 13424 aftermarket receiver (Class III, 3,500 lbs / 350 lbs tongue weight). For trims with the factory receiver, all 2-inch hitch products install without modification. The Acadia's mid-size proportions make it an ideal hitch-mount platform for families: enough ground clearance for departure angle, enough tongue weight for loaded cargo carriers. The factory trailer wiring harness (included with trailering package) provides 4-pin and 7-pin connectors — useful for trailer lighting if towing, but not required for cargo carriers or bike racks.
