Roof Mounting
flush rails with factory rails
The 4th-generation BMW X3 (G01 LCI, 2022+) offers flush-mounted roof rails as standard on most configurations. Like the X5, BMW uses a proprietary T-slot profile that is 1mm narrower than the Toyota/Subaru industry standard β this affects tower compatibility. Rail-to-rail span: approximately 41 inches. Front-to-rear crossbar spread: up to 32 inches. The X3 is a compact luxury SUV β roof dimensions are comparable to the Audi Q5 and Lexus NX rather than the larger X5. Thule Evo Flush Rail (7106) or the BMW OEM crossbar system mount to the flush rails. Yakima StreamLine also offers verified X3 compatibility. For the M Sport package without rails (bare roof with fixed points): Thule Evo Fixpoint (7107) bolts to the four embedded mounting points under removable covers. [ADD PERSONAL EXPERIENCE] The M40i and M variants have identical roof rail geometry to the standard X3 β performance variants differ in powertrain and suspension, not body structure. All X3 roof accessories work across variants. [ADD ORIGINAL PHOTO]
