Roof Mounting
flush rails with factory rails
The 2nd-generation Audi Q7 (4M platform, 2016+) features flush-mounted roof rails on all trims from Premium and above. As with the Q5, Audi uses a proprietary T-slot profile in their flush rails β slightly narrower than the Toyota/Subaru standard. Rail-to-rail span: approximately 50 inches. Front-to-rear crossbar spread: up to 42 inches. The Q7's generous roof dimensions (3-row body length) provide the most expansive cargo envelope in Audi's lineup β comparable to the VW Atlas. Thule Evo Flush Rail (7106) or Yakima StreamLine with Q7-verified compatibility. The Q7's wider roof means crossbar LENGTH differs from the Q5 β they are not interchangeable despite both being Audi flush-rail systems. [ADD PERSONAL EXPERIENCE] The SQ7 (performance variant) has identical rail geometry. All Q7 roof accessories work on the SQ7 without modification β the powertrain and suspension differences do not affect body structure.
