This is a 6-point system for a fifth wheel, and that distinction is not marketing — the jack positions and the frame reinforcement differ between a fifth wheel and a travel trailer. Fitment is decided by your frame and by what is already mounted under it, so confirm against your chassis before ordering. Retrofitting the wrong configuration is not a matter of using fewer jacks.

There are two, because the jacks are not identical. The landing jacks are rated 14,000 lbs each and the levelling jacks 8,000 lbs each. The 60,000 lb figure often quoted is the sum of all six, which is a useful headline and a poor spec — no single jack is doing that, and the system is not rated to lift that much at one point.

Realistically, no. This bolts into the chassis and carries the weight of the rig; it is not an accessory, it is a structural modification with a hydraulic or electrical system attached. Dealers and RV service centres install these, the job runs to a day or more, and getting the jack positions wrong relative to the axles is how frames and slide-outs get damaged. If you are comparing prices, price the installation with the kit.

12 V DC electric motor driving a hydraulic pump, drawing from the house battery bank. That matters more than it sounds: levelling is one of the heaviest electrical loads on the rig, and a tired battery is the usual reason a system stalls part-way through a cycle. Level with shore power connected or the engine running when you can, and keep the battery healthy.

Put pads under the feet. These jacks concentrate several thousand pounds onto a small footprint, and on gravel, sand or rain-soaked turf they will sink — sometimes unevenly, which is worse, because the system will keep chasing level and keep extending. Purpose-made jack pads or lumber both work. On hot asphalt they also stop the feet leaving marks.

There is a manual override, and finding out where it is should not happen on the night you need it. Hydraulic systems can be retracted manually at the pump; electric jacks have an override on each motor. Read that section of the manual before the first trip and keep whatever tool it calls for in the rig — a system stuck extended cannot be driven away from.
