Why this product

Why the Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 - 2"?

The proven T2 Pro platform in the 2-inch hitch version — tool-free AutoAttach, 60 lb per-bike capacity for e-bikes, tilt-away and fold-flat, integrated locks for everything. At 52 lbs with 120 lb total capacity, it handles two heavy bikes without issue. Carbon-frame-safe with no frame contact. This was the benchmark rack for years and the 2-inch version gives you the sturdiest mounting. If you find it at a good price alongside the newer Verse, it is still a strong choice.

“Great bike rack!: 2" Receiver Absolutely love this bike rack. Multipual theft deterrent features. Works great with 2 mountian bikes on the back of my fifth wheel RV. Very secure, isn’t bouncing around all over the place like some cheaper racks I've purchased.”

“Thule is there for you!: 2" Receiver Feel confident about buying a quality product that has a full backing of their company I had questions that were immediately answered not only did they answer my questions but they sent me an email to make sure everything was OK”

“Easy to use: 2" Receiver Works well. Easy on and off with bikes. Hads problem with the tire rachet system. But Thule replaced the part.”

· Read

“Well Built Bike Rack: 2" Receiver Very well made. The first time I used it I drove 180 miles and it performed flawlessly. The next time I used it I drove 700 miles and again no issues. It’s a very well made bike rack. Instructions were a little troublesome but we figured it out.”

“I have a T2 Pro XT (basically same as the XTR minus the roller wheels) and it’s a solid rack. Super easy to put on and off the vehicle.”

“I have the Thule T2 Pro XTR or whatever their newest 2 bike model is. No complaints. It also has an expanding receiver shank. 2 bikes standard or 4 with optional extension, need 2” receiver.”

u/bmwpowere36m3, 5y ago · Read

“Former LBS employee here. There is also a 2-bike extension option for the Thule Pro XTR that would bring its total capacity to 4.”

u/DrMadMatt0701, 4y ago · Read

“LBS employee here. While the thule rack may be a bit cheaper, I prefer kuat for the sole purpose that their racks tend to be a little lighter.”

u/lizard2033, 5y ago · Read

“The XTR my brother took, it's more robust, lighter, the built in wheels are nicer, and it's easier to assemble new. The Verse I use, it's more sleek, I added LED lights, it looks less bulky.”

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 - 2" slides into a standard hitch receiver — most SUVs, trucks, and sedans with a hitch are good to go. I always tell customers to double-check their hitch class first. Use our compatibility checker above and browse our bike rack types guide to confirm the right fit.

Here is the honest answer: check the per-bike weight limit. Most e-bikes weigh 45–65 lbs. The Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 - 2" supports up to 120.00 lbs total, so do the math for your e-bike. Hitch racks handle heavy loads better than other styles — that is why I recommend them for e-bike owners first.

This is one of the easiest installs I have seen. The Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 - 2" slides into your hitch receiver and locks with a pin — no tools, no fuss. Most customers have it ready in under 5 minutes. Start here if you have never used a bike rack before.

Hitch racks are the gentlest on your vehicle because the Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 - 2" connects to the receiver — no contact with paint or body panels. The main risk is bumper clearance when tilting. I have seen thousands of these installed without issues. Read our guide on preventing rack damage for extra precautions.

The Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 - 2" retails at $899.95. For a hitch-mount rack, I think of it as an investment that lasts years. Compare that to shop rentals or damaged bikes from cheap alternatives. See our bike rack pricing breakdown to find the best value for your budget.

Yes, the Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 - 2" comes with an integrated lock (thule one key system). That is a real bonus — many racks charge extra for locks. I still recommend locking both the rack to your vehicle and the bikes to the rack when parked in public.

Most hitch racks tilt or swing away from the vehicle for cargo access, and the Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 - 2" is no exception. Look for the tilt lever — you can usually access your trunk even with bikes loaded. It is one of my favorite hitch rack advantages over trunk-mount options.
