Why this product

Why the Kolpin Stronghold ATV Gun Case?

Lockable double gun case that is dust and water resistant — holds 2 firearms in a hard case format. Universal ATV and UTV fit, 10 lbs, 2 tie-down points. The lockable security is the key upgrade over the Gun Boot, and the double capacity means you can carry a rifle and shotgun together. Heavier and bulkier, but if security and weather protection matter, this is the step up.

What Users Say

Amazon

4.1/5

Based on 179 reviews

74% positive13% negative

Customers find the gun boot well-built, sturdy, and protective, with positive feedback about its size and construction. However, the fit receives mixed reviews - while it works well with AR15s and Sako 85 rifles, youth model rifles with scopes don't fit properly. The ease of use and design also get mixed reactions, with one customer noting it's difficult to get the rifle in and out, and another describing it as a wall ornament. Several customers express dissatisfaction with the product.

“Lives up to its name: XL in this case means extra large capacity, not length. It fits anything I need it to. The XL also has a few attachment holes that I don't think the (L) model does. This is a great case on its own or especially with the snap-in mount for an ATV which is also well worth the price.”

“Kolpin Stronghold XL gun boot: I have to force my Browning Bolt action with a 3X12X56 scope. I wish they had an XXL. I love the concept but the fit is tight for my rifles that will fit and some I am pretty sure are not going to fit at all. I hope that they make some bigger for the large scopes.”

“Fits Scoped AR (Full A1 Configuration): I upgraded from the Koplin Gun Boot 6.0 to the Stronghold XL. I love this version. They fixed all the things I struggled with on the 6.0.”

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The Kolpin Stronghold ATV Gun Case is a universal-fit rack that works with most ATVs and UTVs. Here's the installation requirement: measure your mounting points and compare against the adjustable bracket range in the specs. Use our compatibility checker to confirm your specific make and model.

The Kolpin Stronghold ATV Gun Case supports up to 100 lbs. Here's why staying under the limit is critical on off-road vehicles: trail impacts multiply effective load forces by 2–3x. A 100-lb static load hits like 200–300 lbs on rough terrain. Distribute weight evenly and secure everything with the 2 tie-down points.

Load the Kolpin Stronghold ATV Gun Case by placing heavy items low and centered over the mounting points. Here's the rule: strap every item individually—bungee cords aren't enough for trail riding. Use ratchet straps through the 2 tie-down points. Test by shaking the rack aggressively before you ride. Nothing should shift.

The Kolpin Stronghold ATV Gun Case has 2 tie-down points for securing cargo. Here's why securing cargo matters more on ATVs than trucks: off-road impacts are violent and unpredictable. Ratchet straps at every point, checked after every mile of rough terrain.

The Kolpin Stronghold ATV Gun Case is built from hdpe. Apply a rust-inhibitor spray before the season starts. Here's the maintenance reality: ATVs and UTVs get dirtier than any other vehicle category. Rinse the rack with fresh water after every muddy ride to prevent accelerated corrosion.

The Kolpin Stronghold ATV Gun Case does not fold—it's a fixed-mount design. Here's the trade-off: fixed racks are stronger and more rigid under load, but they remain in place when empty. If trail clearance is a concern, remove it between trips. That takes about 15 minutes with basic tools.
