Japanese manufacturer of roof racks, kayak carriers, and cargo accessories. Known for the INA453 kayak lifter.
INNO is the Japanese entry in the roof-rack world. The brand is owned by Carmate, a Japanese auto-accessories giant founded in 1968. INNO racks have been sold in the U.S. since the early 2000s and are known for being well-engineered but quieter than their Thule/Yakima competition — both literally (lower wind noise) and in the marketing sense.
INNO sells aero crossbars, hitch bike racks, kayak mounts, and ski racks. Their biggest strength is compatibility with Japanese vehicles, where they often have fit kits before anyone else does. The Shadow aero bar is their best-known crossbar and frequently beats Thule WingBar Evo in independent wind-noise tests.
Pricing is mid-to-premium. Availability in the U.S. can be spotty — you'll find more selection on RackAttack than at most big-box retailers.
Did you know?
INNO's parent company Carmate also manufactures the vast majority of Japan's car-interior dust brushes and sun visors, which is why their rack clips are cut to the exact same tolerances as consumer electronics housings.
