Vertical hanging hitch bike rack manufacturer. Known for high-capacity racks (3-7 bikes) with 100 lb per bike capacity and damper-assisted lowering.
VelociRAX is a Utah-based startup (founded 2018) that came into the hitch bike rack market with a fresh idea: vertical hanging. Their racks hold bikes upside-down by the front wheel, which lets them carry four to seven bikes in a space that would fit two on a tray rack.
The concept is controversial. Traditional rack people hate it because bikes hang inverted and contact other bikes. The mountain-bike-shuttle crowd loves it because you can actually fit seven full-suspension bikes on one hitch receiver without a trailer.
Pricing is premium (starting around $1,400). The welds and hardware are legitimate. For shuttling, bikepacking groups, and trail crews, VelociRAX is genuinely the only game in town at this capacity.
Did you know?
The VelociRAX was invented by a Utah mountain bike guide who kept needing to shuttle seven bikes up canyon roads and got tired of running two vehicles. The name comes from a mashup of "velociraptor" and "rack."
