The SkyBox NX 16 is a meaningful upgrade over the Carbonite series. Improved aerodynamics reduce wind noise, and the updated mounting system is more intuitive. The 16 cubic foot capacity hits the sweet spot for most families.

The NX update brings the SkyBox into the modern era. It is not as refined as the Thule Motion 3, but at a lower price point, it delivers excellent value.

The SkyBox NX improves on the Carbonite with a flatter floor and better hardware. Dual-side access is excellent. However, latch reliability concerns and winter performance lag behind Thule.
