Wisconsin-based manufacturer known for affordable, reliable bike racks.
Saris Cycling Group is the Wisconsin-based bike rack brand that makes the best value in the mid-tier. Founded in 1989 in Madison, Wisconsin, Saris started as Graber Products and has been family-owned the entire time. Everything they ship is built in a solar-powered facility right in Madison.
Saris makes hitch racks (SuperClamp, MHS, Freedom), trunk racks (Bones), roof racks, and indoor bike trainers (H3, M2). The SuperClamp EX 2-Bike at about $380 is one of the best dollar-per-feature hitch racks on the market — tray-style, tilt-away, no frame contact, for about half the price of a Kuat NV.
The catch: Saris had some well-publicized corporate trouble in 2022 and briefly filed Chapter 11. They emerged under new ownership, and existing warranties have been honored, but some enthusiasts stayed away. Worth watching how the new ownership treats quality.
Did you know?
Saris's headquarters in Madison is powered entirely by rooftop solar, and the company used to give employees free bikes as a signing bonus. The original "Bones" trunk rack name came from a Halloween costume contest in 1991.
