Warum dieses Produkt

Warum der Smittybilt Overlander Roof Top Tent?

The original Smittybilt Overlander is arguably the tent that made rooftop camping accessible in the US market. At 132 lbs with a 5-minute setup, it is a basic fold-out without frills. The 600D PU-coated ripstop polyester gets the job done for 3-season camping. Häufige Fragen

Häufig gestellte Fragen

The Smittybilt Overlander Roof Top Tent weighs 132.00 lbs. Your rack's dynamic load rating is the limiting factor—not static. Most factory crossbars handle 150–165 lbs dynamic. If you're close to the limit, aftermarket bars solve the problem. Nutze unseren Kompatibilitäts-Check to confirm.

The Smittybilt Overlander Roof Top Tent weighs 132.00 lbs (59.90 kg). Here's why that matters: your vehicle's dynamic roof load rating must comfortably exceed this weight. Add passengers sleeping inside (static load only) and you need the static rating to clear roughly 432.00 lbs total.

Die Montage erfordert zwei Personen und etwa 45 Minuten. The Smittybilt Overlander Roof Top Tent bolts to your crossbars using the included mounting hardware. Key requirement: verify your crossbar spread is between 24" and 48" before you start.

Yes, but the Smittybilt Overlander Roof Top Tent's folded profile creates more wind resistance than a hardshell. Highway speeds of 65–70 mph are fine when properly secured. Here's why caution matters: check all buckles and straps before driving—a loose cover flapping at speed can tear fabric and damage the tent.

The Smittybilt Overlander Roof Top Tent uses 600D ripstop polyester PU coated fabric with a 1500mm waterproof rating. Das ist wichtig: 1500mm hält mäßigem Regen stand, 3000mm+ hält Dauerregen stand. It's rated 3_season. Versiegele alle Reißverschlüsse jährlich, um die Wasserdichtigkeit zu erhalten.

Expect about 5 minutes for a full setup of the Smittybilt Overlander Roof Top Tent. That includes unfolding, extending the ladder, and securing any rainfly or annex. Practice twice at home and you'll cut that time in half. Teardown takes roughly the same.

Plan for a 15–20% fuel economy hit with the Smittybilt Overlander Roof Top Tent installed. Here's why: 132.00 lbs of added weight plus aerodynamic drag increase consumption at all speeds. The penalty is worst above 65 mph where drag scales exponentially. Some owners only mount it for trips to minimize the ongoing cost.
