Warum dieses Produkt

Warum der Smittybilt Gen2 Overlander Standard?

The Gen2 Overlander improves on Smittybilt's original with a faster 3-minute setup versus the original's 5 minutes. At 132 lbs with 600D PU-coated ripstop polyester, the build is decent for the price. The 2.4-inch mattress is thinner than some competitors. Smittybilt's pricing makes this one of the cheapest ways to start rooftop camping. If you want a fold-out with a faster setup than the original Overlander at a similar price, the Gen2 is the straightforward upgrade.

Häufige Fragen

Häufig gestellte Fragen

The Smittybilt Gen2 Overlander Standard weighs 132.00 lbs. Your rack's dynamic load rating is the limiting factor—not static. Most factory crossbars handle 150–165 lbs dynamic. If you're close to the limit, aftermarket bars solve the problem. Nutze unseren Kompatibilitäts-Check to confirm.

The Smittybilt Gen2 Overlander Standard weighs 132.00 lbs (59.90 kg). Here's why that matters: your vehicle's dynamic roof load rating must comfortably exceed this weight. Add passengers sleeping inside (static load only) and you need the static rating to clear roughly 432.00 lbs total.

Die Montage erfordert zwei Personen und etwa 45 Minuten. The Smittybilt Gen2 Overlander Standard bolts to your crossbars using the included mounting hardware. Key requirement: verify your crossbar spread is between 24" and 48" before you start.

Yes, but the Smittybilt Gen2 Overlander Standard's folded profile creates more wind resistance than a hardshell. Highway speeds of 65–70 mph are fine when properly secured. Here's why caution matters: check all buckles and straps before driving—a loose cover flapping at speed can tear fabric and damage the tent.

The Smittybilt Gen2 Overlander Standard uses 600D ripstop polyester PU coated fabric with a 1500mm waterproof rating. Das ist wichtig: 1500mm hält mäßigem Regen stand, 3000mm+ hält Dauerregen stand. It's rated 3_season. Versiegele alle Reißverschlüsse jährlich, um die Wasserdichtigkeit zu erhalten.

Expect about 3 minutes for a full setup of the Smittybilt Gen2 Overlander Standard. That includes unfolding, extending the ladder, and securing any rainfly or annex. Practice twice at home and you'll cut that time in half. Teardown takes roughly the same.

Plan for a 15–20% fuel economy hit with the Smittybilt Gen2 Overlander Standard installed. Here's why: 132.00 lbs of added weight plus aerodynamic drag increase consumption at all speeds. The penalty is worst above 65 mph where drag scales exponentially. Some owners only mount it for trips to minimize the ongoing cost.
