Warum dieses Produkt

Warum der OVS Bushveld 2 Hard Shell?

The Bushveld 2 is a straightforward budget clamshell from OVS. The 600D polyester ripstop is a step up from the Bundu's 420D fabric, offering better durability. At 178 lbs for a 2-person tent it is heavier than you would expect, so factor that into payload calculations. The 30-second clamshell setup is convenient for frequent camp moves. A solid entry point if you want a clamshell without premium pricing.

“Adequate but cheaply made with issues: Adequate but issues. Poor production quality. Once opened, found hook missing for underbelly attachment of flap. Quality control? Very difficult to close tent down and latch hardware to latch lid once mounted, and even before. Acts as if frame/tent missalined to floor pan.”

Häufige Fragen

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Here's why this matters: the OVS Bushveld 2 Hard Shell weighs 178.00 lbs. Your roof rack's dynamic load rating must exceed that plus occupant weight when driving. Most factory racks top out at 150–165 lbs dynamic. Nutze unseren Kompatibilitäts-Check to verify your setup.

The OVS Bushveld 2 Hard Shell weighs 178.00 lbs (80.70 kg). Here's why that matters: your vehicle's dynamic roof load rating must comfortably exceed this weight. Add passengers sleeping inside (static load only) and you need the static rating to clear roughly 478.00 lbs total.

Die Montage erfordert zwei Personen und etwa 45 Minuten. The OVS Bushveld 2 Hard Shell bolts to your crossbars using the included mounting hardware. Key requirement: verify your crossbar spread is between 24" and 48" before you start.

Yes. The OVS Bushveld 2 Hard Shell's hardshell design is aerodynamically efficient when closed. Most owners drive at normal highway speeds (65–75 mph) without issues. Here's why: the rigid shell deflects wind cleanly. You'll notice some increased fuel consumption and minor crosswind sensitivity, but handling stays predictable.

The OVS Bushveld 2 Hard Shell uses 600D polyester ripstop fabric with a 3000mm waterproof rating. Das ist wichtig: 1500mm hält mäßigem Regen stand, 3000mm+ hält Dauerregen stand. It's rated 3_season.

Yes—expect a 10–15% reduction in fuel economy with the OVS Bushveld 2 Hard Shell mounted. Here's why: the added weight (178.00 lbs) and aerodynamic drag both increase fuel consumption. Hardshells are more efficient than softshells due to their streamlined profile. Removing it when not camping eliminates the penalty entirely.
